Oh, Snap.

Out of the 9 years that the husband and I have been together, we only have a handful of  decent pictures together. Why? Because this is what it is like trying to take a picture with my love.

"Seth!  Don't make that face. My hair looks bad anyway so let's take another one."

"SETH! Let's take another one!"

"UGH! SETH! I WANT A GOOD PICTURE OF US!"

"Dang! That was a good one but my finger was in front of the lens!"

"I don't like my hair. Let's take one more."
"I don't like this one. ONE MORE!"
"Finally!"

I'll Settle for a Slowdown

On Thursday, my sub plans were written, my chairs were stacked, and I could not have been out the door any faster. (Thanks Tammy for watching the kids after Tutoring). :) After throwing some things in a suitcase and making a pot of coffee, my good man and I hit the road to the Rock. His cousin is getting married tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about it really. I love weddings and I especially like helping and getting caught up in the excitement of everything!

This wedding could not have happened at a better time for me. I needed to get away from the ATL for a little while. There have been some very stressful things going on and I really needed to leave it all and clear my head. I was able to get off work on Monday as well, which is so nice. I love being in LR on Sundays...church and lunch with the family are two of my favorite things. Leaving in the afternoon and making it to Atlanta late late late on Sunday night when I have to work the next day is not.

After all of the events of the past week, I have realized a few things.
1. I am married to such a wonderful person. Really. He is such a good friend to people and he doesn't even realize it. I'm lucky to have him to lean on and keep my head on straight.
2. I work with amazing people. Bottom line. I'm thankful to have these people in my life right now. I am beginning to realize/understand that this job truly is part of the Big Man's plan. I get it now.
3. Sometimes, people really surprise me- for better or worse.
4. Sometimes, I really surprise myself- for better or worse.
5. A hug can make my day.

Enough rambling for one night I think. I'm hitting the hay so I can be up bright and early to play with cute kids for a little bit, go to a Wedding Shower and then a wedding. Fun times!

"Let Them Eat Quiche She Said"

Last night, after a busy day at work, I decided to be all domestic like and make a quiche. Have I ever made a quiche before? Well, no. Of course not. I opened up the GF cookbook that my momma got me for Christmas and flipped to the pie crust section.

Then I whipped me up a pie crust... from scratch! I had never even done that with regular flour before. In a longer time than it should have taken no time at all, I had this...

45 minutes and a few peeks later, I had this...

But did I stop there? No, I did not. I flipped over to the cookie section and whipped up some chocolate chip cookies.
I was impressed with the cookies and the quiche, considering I'm new to making things without regular flour. My good man ate them both and went back for seconds on the quiche...always a good sign!

Funny Girls and Wild Squirrels

I wish I had something really really really interesting to tell ya'll today, but I really don't. I've been hanging around the house cooking some food for some people in our class who had a baby. (What the heck was I thinking making them lemon squares? Talk about torture-those little flour filled things.)

Anyway. One story from school then some pictures for my dad.

I have a new girl in my class and she is just starting to open up and actually talk. One day last week she told me about a bazillion times that her tooth was loose. She came running up to me at lunch (holding the pear she was eating) screaming, "AHHH! I have "bleed" on my pear!" Yes, you read that correctly. I just shook my head. CRCT here we come!

See that animal sitting on the ledge? Looks kinda like a rabbit right?
This was on the top of the mountain in Albuquerque and it threw me for a loop. Of course, my dad will know what it is...

So tell me. What is that thing, Dadio?

A Simple Saturday

The weather in Atlanta is beautiful today! I met a co-worker of mine at a little coffee shop down the street then went to my school's Chinese New Year Celebration. Yeah, it is a month late. Oh well.

I have two funny stories from school this week:
A kid in the class next door didn't want to eat his sandwich and made a big fuss about it at lunch. At the end of the day his teacher realized he had put it in the recycle bin. When she asked him about it he said, "I didn't want it so I just recycled it so it can be used again!" Made me smile.

A kid in my class was talking to her table about her aunt that has a "deer head" on her wall. She went on and on about it and suddenly said, "But the crazy thing is that she doesn't even take it down at night!" Made me smile.

I'll tell you what, kids can drive you crazy. Kids can make you want to quit your job. They can make you want a glass of wine. They can make you count the seconds to 3:45. But, every now and then they can make you smile and remember why you wanted to do this crazy job in the first place.

Enough thinking about school. Enjoy your Saturday!

Thought I'd throw in a pretty picture of pretty roses. Just for fun.

Winter Break

Last night (after a crazy plane ride and after I saw Usher on my plane) I made it back to the ATL. I had such a great time in Albuquerque with my friend and her two precious little ones. It was so good to visit and watch movies and hold babies. I pretty much carried her little girl around the entire time. I have a house to clean and laundry to do right now, but I wanted to show you some pictures of the trip.

Of course, I had to make him love me right away with a FunDip.
We went shopping, bought her a bunch of fun clothes, and dressed her up!

I love her little toes in this picture.

Best friends since 1989.

We drove up to the mountains and looked down over Albuquerque. It was cold, buddy!

Now that's something you don't see in the ATL.

How sweet is that?
As you can see, I had a great time. Now back to the real world for a while.
