It's Me Again

Hey y'all!
Sorry I've been pressing the shady button on the blog and in real life lately. I've been so bad about calling people and calling them back and blogging.

I do kinda think the "winter blues" are real. I may or may not have been suffering from them lately. Luckily, I think I'm back to normal though. Whatever normal really means.

I woke up today ready for spring. The weather was just beautiful! I sat in the porch swing this morning and drank coffee and read my book (Water For Elephants...which I really like so far).Then I spent the say with a sweet friend getting ready for a going away party for some sweet friends who are moving to Austin then I spent the night visiting with more sweet friends! It has really been a good day.

I am out Monday-Wednesday for our "Winter Break." Please excuse me for the annoying yyyeeeeessssss I need to let out. Don't get me wrong...I love teaching First Graders...I really do...but I also like days off. (Can I get an Amen?)

I also love sleeping and I'm on my way there now. Good night!
P.S. I'm on the iPod Touch so I'm sorry of there are a bunch of mistakes.

A friendly letter

Dear Mother Nature,

You have let me down. Big. Time.
As you know, snow came through the Atlanta area last night. Teachers and students ( mostly teachers) had already mentally prepared themselves for a "snow day". Also known as...a day where we don't have to go to school.

I check the weather constantly. People at work call me "the weather girl." I can check weather.com in my sleep. Probably have.

I was prepared for a day filled with pajamas and coffee. Long naps and Regis and Kelly. When that alarm went off this morning I just knew I would see those glorious words: Atlanta Public Schools-CLOSED. But sadly, no. Thanks for trying. But next time, please bring a snow day. Thank you.

Well hello, February

Well, once again I have managed to not get on here in a week. I wish I had something really big and amazing to blog about but I really don't. Just another busy, rainy week in Atlanta where I spend my nights curled up on the couch with my good man. 

This week at school as been so so busy! The 100th Day of School, Groundhog Day, and a Chinese New Year Celebration have made for one tried teacher. I really do love February, though. Valentine's Day and the Winter Break will be here soon. 

We did something pretty fun on Tuesday night. We went to Eddies' Attic to see a friend of a friend play. It turns out that my good man knows him as well from their Minnesota days. It also turns out that this guy's main memory of my good man is of them putting their money together to buy a gallon of ice cream or something.

Anyway, I'm not above doing a plug for him. 

His name is Caleb Hawley and you can find out more about him here. Check the website and  try to catch a show if you're up for some live music. He has some good songs and his voice reminds me of Vince Gill a little bit sometimes (but he's not "country"). The songs that play on the website are pretty good but he was much better "live". 

I should also tell you that he was on American Idol the very first night of the season and made it to Hollywood. You can see that clip here. Again, much better live but Steven Tyler cracks me up in this video.

Thankfully, tomorrow is Friday! This week was much better than last but I sure do look forward to my Saturday. I must go get some rest now so that I'll be ready to spend my day with 6 year olds. Goodnight!
