My Good Man

And now, blog friends, I will tell you about my better half. My good man had a wild and crazy hair/beard combo going on around Thanksgiving and Christmas. See for yourself:

There were a few reasons for this:

1. No Shave November

                  2. He knew I couldn't really stand it.

                             3. He knew I wanted him to clean up some. 

I hinted at haircuts. I offered to shave it for him. Nothing. I suggested we go get a haircut while we were out and about. Nothing. My only hope of a haircut for him was the wedding he was in January 2nd. 

When we got to LR we ate lunch with the couple who was getting married (at US Pizza, who has gluten free pizza I might add). I joked about his hair and the bride told him she wasn't worried about it. What? You don't care if he gets a haircut? Huh? You are going to let him keep this crazy long wild hair for your wedding day? Come on now... think about your pictures. Think about your parents. Think about your children's children who will look at these pictures for years to come! Make. him. cut. his hair. Please. I beg of you! You are my only hope! You're the only chance I have left. Dang.

After a few days of leading me on, Seth did end up getting a trim. Ahhh...there's my good man instead of the mountain man who had taken his place.

In the hotel the morning of the wedding, I found him doing this...

And then suddenly, he transformed into this...

Ahhhhh. 

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y

I love Saturday! I've been sitting here drinking coffee with Seth, eating cinnamon toast on gluten free bread, enjoying my day. Perfect!

How High's the Water Momma?

It has been one heck of a week and I honestly forgot  I had a blog.

The sprinkler system in my building at school froze and busted in the classroom next door to mine. Her ceiling completely  caved in and she had about 3 feet of water in her room. With my room being next door, I have no idea how I didn't get the same kind of damage. A part of my ceiling did fall and I had about 6 inches of water in my room. Over 1 million gallons of water poured through the entire building and you can imagine the chaos this has caused.

We all had to move our remaining belongings over to the other building (with the 3rd-7th graders). Currently, I share the library with another class. All in all, our school  has really pulled together to get through this. I think about it happening last year... and I can't honestly say we could have made it. Our new principal has been on the ball and even had a private company up there sucking out the water at 3AM .

All the tile in the building had to be removed and each sheet rock wall had to be torn down. Don't forget about the ceilings that caved. They estimate the repairs will take 2 to 3 weeks but first, the building has to dry out.

The only day we were allowed in the building was Monday, and we were busy busy busy going through piles of wet things and moving dry things to the other buildings. I did manage to take a few pictures and will put them on here later.

Now you know why I have been MIA all week. Sorry ya'll, but 1 million gallons of water causes a lot of stress on a girl!

Oh Crap!

I need to vent for two minutes and then I will stop.

I just got a call that the main water pipe busted in my building at school and has caused some major damage. I am told that my room has a few feet of water and that the ceiling is "caving in"... whatever that means.

 I have just had to call 20+ parents to let them know that we won't have school tomorrow.

Luckily, none of my personal things (like my camera) were at school. You teachers will understand how bad this could be.... all of my books being my concern right now. These are all material things that can be replaced but it does stink!

Ok. I'm finished. I'm going to school tomorrow to survey the damage and begin the clean up process. Wish us luck. 

A Friendly Letter

Dear Atlanta Public Schools,

Thank you for finally closing the schools for the day. Thank you for allowing me to stay home on this snowy Friday to enjoy a day with Seth. Thank you for the opportunity to sleep late, watch Daytime TV, pack up the Christmas things and clean my house.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year... almost one week later. I had such a great time in AR for my Christmas Break! I was able to spend a lot of time with family and good friends and was kind of sad to come back. I will now overload you with pictures.
